At Hidden Pond Farm Equine Rescue, our mission is to help horses in danger of entering the slaughter pipeline. The horses come to us from a variety of channels including the kill pen, auction, and surrenders by owners who can no longer take care of them. We take them in, rehabilitate them, and find them safe, permanent homes. We will take in any horse, regardless of physical or emotional condition; sometimes it is a long road back to health. The Rescue is supported by donations and grants from individuals, organizations, and corporations.
Hidden Pond Farm
The farm is situated in a quiet neighborhood on 30 acres in Brentwood, New Hampshire. In 2014, Phyllis Elliott and her daughter, Jessica, started Hidden Pond Farm Equine Rescue, rescuing horses and bringing them to the farm for rehabilitation and rehoming. There are usually 25-30 rescued horses at various stages of rehabilitation living at the farm, along with a number of horses being cared for at foster farms.
Although the farm isn't fancy by any means, we give the horses excellent medical care, plenty of rest, and a lot of TLC. Once their bodies are healed, some of the horses need additional time to recover from past trauma and mistreatment. We give them all as much time as they need to get their spark back.
Education
As part of our mission, we also focus on education to prevent horses from entering the slaughter pipeline. We hold educational and community events such as our annual Open House and a fall trail ride. We welcome visitors to come for a farm tour and to learn about what we do.
Volunteers
We have a large group of volunteers who help to keep the farm running on a daily basis. Anyone eager to learn is welcomed, no past horse experience required. There is always plenty to do at the farm, from barn repair to daily barn chores to just spending time grooming and resting quietly with a horse to help them learn to trust humans again.

Our mission is to rescue horses at risk of slaughter, rehabilitate them and find them safe homes. Horses come to us from across the northeastern US. Some arrive in a state of neglect, injury, or illness and will typically spend a year in rehabilitation before moving on to adoption.
