Redwings Horse Sanctuary

Founded in 1991, Redwings Horse Sanctuary is an accredited nonprofit organization dedicated to providing rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and lifelong sanctuary for horses in need. As a Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) accredited organization, Redwings is committed to helping retired racehorses successfully transition into life beyond the racetrack.

Through partnerships with programs such as CARMA and other aftercare networks, Redwings provides rehabilitation, retraining opportunities, adoption placement, and lifelong sanctuary for Thoroughbreds whose racing careers have come to an end. Each horse receives individualized care tailored to their physical and emotional needs, helping them heal, thrive, and find a successful second chapter.

Many of the Thoroughbreds that come to Redwings arrive with stories of resilience, overcoming injury, neglect, or uncertainty to become beloved companions, athletes, and family horses. For those who cannot be rehomed, Redwings provides a safe and permanent sanctuary where they can live out their lives with dignity and care.

Located on 184 acres in Paso Robles, California, Redwings cares for nearly 100 equines annually and is accredited by both the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) and the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS). While Thoroughbred aftercare is an important part of our mission, Redwings also serves horses from a wide range of backgrounds, providing a lifelong commitment to equine welfare.
