Turning for Home, Inc.

Turning For Home, Inc. is the official Thoroughbred aftercare program of Parx Racing, created by the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association to provide a safe, responsible transition for racehorses when their racing careers end.

Since 2008, Turning For Home has helped more than 5,000 retired racehorses move from the racetrack into rehabilitation, retraining, adoption, sanctuary, or appropriate long-term care. Our mission is simple but essential: Rehabilitate. Retrain. Rehome. Relove.

TFH works directly with owners, trainers, veterinarians, shippers, and a trusted network of Partner Farms to ensure that eligible horses are not left without options. Each horse is evaluated, given the care it needs, and placed on a path suited to its health, temperament, and future potential. Some go on to second careers as show horses, trail partners, lesson horses, therapy horses, or beloved companions. Others require surgery, rehabilitation, or permanent sanctuary support.

What makes Turning For Home unique is our commitment beyond placement. Every horse that comes through the program is Backed for Life, meaning TFH remains a safety net if a horse ever needs help again.

Donor support helps provide veterinary care, surgery, rehabilitation, transportation, placement support, emergency assistance, and responsible lifetime aftercare. Every gift helps give retired racehorses the safe landing and second chance they have earned.
